Airports & flights
For Slovenia, the most convenient entry and exit point is Ljubljana Airport. The airport is located to the north-west of Ljubljana city centre with a transfer time of approximately thirty minutes. Lake Bled is also just a half hour transfer away and the regions of Goriška Brda and the Slovenian Adriatic are located approximately ninety minutes away. The popular ski resorts and alpine activity centres of Bohinj and Kranjska Gora are a one hour transfer from here.
Flight accessibility at Ljubljana is reasonably good with regular connections to many European destinations such as London, Paris, Moscow, Helsinki, Zurich, Frankfurt and Munich. Passengers travelling from outside of Europe will need to make a connection at one of these cities.
For Montenegro, Podgorica airport offers flights to several European cities where connections to destinations outside of Europe can also be made.
For Serbia, Belgrade airport offers flights to wide selection of European destinations and direct flights to the United States and the Middle-East.
Perhaps the most versatile airports in the region are Venice Marco Polo and Venice Treviso which offer a much wider choice of flights, not just with other European cities but also with direct flights to North America and Asia. The transfer times from both Venice airports to the most popular destinations in Slovenia and Croatia are also quite reasonable; Goriška Brda (1 hour, 45 minutes), Piran & Portoroz (2 hours, 15 minutes), Ljubljana (2 hours, 30 minutes), Bled (3 hours), Brtonigla, Istria (2 hours, 30 minutes), Motovun, Istria (2 hours 45 minutes) and Opatija (2 hours, 45 minutes).
